- Both teams have scored in three of Angers’ last five league games
- Bordeaux have won three of their last five matches in Ligue 1
- Bordeaux scored twice as they beat Angers in August’s reverse fixture
Bordeaux Backed to Edge Tight Game
Bordeaux made it back-to-back league wins last weekend when they cruised to a 3-0 victory away at Nice, while Angers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to the league leaders PSG. As a result, the gap between Bordeaux and Angers is now down to just 1pt, so a win for the hosts would take them above their guests and into the top eight on Sunday.
When these two sides met for the first time this season, back in August, Bordeaux secured a 2-0 away win. Games between these two clubs in recent seasons have tended to be closely fought with only one of their last nine encounters being settled by more than a one-goal margin.
The hosts head into this weekend’s game as the form favourites with three wins from their last six matches. Angers have lost three of their last six league games, including a 3-0 defeat in their last away game. Both teams have scored in three of Bordeaux’s and three of Angers’ last six matches, suggesting that there is a good chance we won’t see any clean sheets on Sunday.
These two clubs have performed to a very similar level so far this season and their recent encounters have tended to be very close and competitive. We’re predicting that both teams will score this weekend and have backed the hosts and form favourites, Bordeaux, to claim a narrow 2-1 victory.
