Hey guys, this is my first blog of 2021. I was contemplating what to write and since IOPC and APT are right around the corner, I thought I will share a few tips on how to approach big series like these with a long and gruelling grind.
So most important factors when preparing for a series like these are –
Maintain Your Focus – With long hours and too many tournaments running, it’s easy to lose focus and start playing too much. So, focus on what you are planning to play, make a schedule and stick to it.
Proper Sleep – If you don’t have a proper sleep cycle and are tired, results will not show up. So, getting a proper sleep schedule is mandatory.
Studying – It’s so easy to get caught up playing non-stop with so many tournaments and forget to realise the mistakes we are committing, so spending time at least an hour a day for study will help you a lot.
Eating Right – During these long series, you don’t have time and just keep ordering stuff that’s unhealthy and that effects your focus and energy. So, plan in advance and have your food and drinks ready for the grind beforehand to stay healthy.
Bankroll Management – This aspect can’t be emphasized enough, before the series make a list of all the tournaments you want to play within your buy-in range and stick to it. It’s so easy to get carried away and burn through your roll very fast with so many events, especially online where there’s reentry. So, making a strict plan and sticking to it is very important for a long series.
Good luck and see you at the tables!
