Since the fight is official, sportsbooks wasted no time in putting up the opening line for the bout. According to online bookmaker BetOnline.ag, Holloway is a slight -140 odds on favorite to win this potentially explosive matchup. On the other hand, Kattar opened as a slight +120 betting underdog in what is undoubtedly the biggest fight of his career.
The 6th ranked featherweight in the UFC is 6-2 inside the UFC Octagon and he heads to this contest after back to back victories over Jeremy Stephens and Dan Ige. The 32-year old Kattar recently signed a a contract with the UFC and his date with the Blessed Express is the second in his new six-fight deal with the promotion.
Holloway meanwhile is the number one ranked featherweight in the UFC. The 28-year old from Honolulu, Hawaii is coming off back to back losses to current champion Alexander Volkanovski. Holloway lost the belt to Volkanovski via unanimous decision at UFC 245 and then Blessed lost via a close and disputed split decision in their rematch at UFC 251.

The Blessed Era began at UFC 206 when Holloway became the first fighter to stop Anthony Pettis. In that bout, Holloway became the interim UFC featherweight champion. He would become undisputed champion when he stopped Jose Aldo at UFC 212 six months later. Holloway would affirm his title reign by knocking out Aldo during their rematch at UFC 218.
Holloway would go on to successfully defend his belt against Brian Ortega and Frankie Edgar. But the Blessed Era ended at UFC 245 when he was defeated by Alexander Volkanovski. Prior to that loss, Max won 14 consecutive featherweight bouts to set the record for longest winning streak in division history. Holloway lost just once from 2014-2019 but the defeat came when he moved up in weight to fight Dustin Poirier for the interim UFC lightweight title.
Because of his track record, Holloway earned an immediate rematch against Volkanovski at UFC 251 during the first Fight Island series. Holloway started out much better in that fight and many felt that he did enough to outclass Volkanovski. However, the judges scored the bout for the Australian, awarding him a close and disputed split decision. Holloway has been talking about getting his redemption and he’s getting a big opportunity to do that against a top-rated opponent like Kattar. But then this is just half of the story.
