POTD: Gary Anderson (+100) v Dave Chisnall

Now at the semi finals, the match up I like is a World #13 Gary “The Flying Scotsmen” Anderson to defeat World #8 Dave “Chizzy” Chisnall.

In their quarter final victories, Anderson averaged slightly over 101 with 50% checkouts in his defeat of World #43 Dirk van Duivenbode. Chizzy averaged 107.3 with 48% checkouts in a dazzling upset of World #1 Michael van Gerwen. Chizzy also averaged 101.7 with 50% checkouts in his final 16 defeat of World #9 Dmitri van den Bergh.

Basically, Chizzy has been sensational is his previous two matches. Prior to these matches, however, Chizzy averaged under 100 on scoring and closer to 40% on checkouts. Decent numbers no doubt, but nothing like what he’s put up in his last two matches.

The reason I believe Anderson will win this match up is experience. Anderson has two world titles to his name, compared to zero for Chizzy. He’s been here before (this is uncharted territory for Chizzy) and Ando seems relaxed in his interviews and primed to get to the finals again.

Anderson also holds a 19-5 lifetime head to head record over Chisnall. Ando has won seven of the last eight matchups against Chizzy.

Expecting an absolute battle in this one, but I actually give Anderson the edge to get the win. I also do not believe Chizzy will continue to perform at the levels he has in his previous two matches.

Taking the Flying Scotsmen (+100) to defeat Chizzy and advance to his fourth finals appearance.
