MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Phil Mickelson has at least one sports bettor believing he will win the US Open. An anonymous sports bettor at William Hill Sportsbook dropped $45,000 on the pro golfers 75-1 odds to take the win. If he wins the wager would payout $3.375 million.
Mickelson got wind of the wager and took to his twitter account to express his gratitude to the sports bettor as well as expressing his new motivations to win.

This is possibly why the anonymous sports bettor managed to get the attention of the PGA golfer. Mickelson shouted out the gambler and assured him that he is playing for both of them.
Heard someone place 45k on me to win the open at 75-1 (pays 3.3 mil)
Hoping for both of us I have a 3 shot lead on 18 tee.

Shortly after, William Hill CEO Joe Asher joined in on the fun, tweeting about the wager and how he will be worried while watching Mickelson compete in the big event.
Glad to see @PhilMickelson heard about the bet on him placed at one of our @WilliamHillNV sports books yesterday. I will be sweating profusely if he has that 3 stroke lead on 18! https://t.co/EgZCJVrNNA

The 50-year-old PGA golfer also has another motivation for winning the US Open. Back in 2006, Mickelson choked away his best chance of winning the big event.
Now Mickelson is going in with two chips on his shoulder. One for his redemption story, and one for the sports betting fan that believes in him enough to wager $45,000.
Betting on the US Open is a major attraction at sportsbooks. The Tournament begins on Thursday and depending on how Mickelson plays, his odds could get a lot shorter.
