What happens when the God of the Underworld lines up in battle against the God of Thunder? Red Tiger is on a mission to find out with War of Gods, one of their new slot titles. Hades takes on Zeus and to find out what happens when these two titans face-off, you’ll need to get ready to spin the reels – but prepare for an explosive outcome.
There’s nothing new about featuring deities in online slots. It’s a trendy theme with plenty of existing titles such as the quirky Hades Gigablox from Ygdrasil Gaming and Zeus: God of Thunder from WMS Gaming. There are some slots which have two gods slugging it out, such as 2 Gods Zeus vs Thor. Hades and Zeus have even met before in the Toptrend Gaming 2016 release, Zeus vs Hades. Two siblings with godlike powers, fighting it out – what could possibly go wrong?!
There are five reels in this slot, with a 5×4 layout on the grid. This includes 30 fixed paylines on the standard game, but these can increase up to 60 when the board extends. The betting covers a decent range, starting at 0.20 per spin and increasing up to 20.00. The max payout is x2518, which isn’t the highest around. The RTP is also on the disappointing side, at just 95.66% coupled with a high volatility.
The design of the game is spectacular, an arena that’s more than fitting for the gods. With cracks of lightning in the sky and fiery depths below, the reels nestle in the bowels of the underworld waiting for Zeus to approach.
The reels are a mix of low-value and picture symbols. The low-value symbols include stylised playing cards with a Gothic theme plus picture symbols such as horn goblets, parchment scrolls, shields, and helmets.
Unusually for a modern slot, there’s no wild in this game. That means that it’s up to you to roll a match of at least three symbols, with no helping hand.
Bonuses and Jackpots
As well as having no wilds on the crowded paytable, this slot doesn’t have any free spins either. But before you jump in your digital chariot and go searching for another slot title to play, War of Gods has more than enough other bonus features to make up for the deficit.
Landing the right
symbols will give you access to three bonus games:
- Wrath of Zeus. This feature opens when you land a 1×2 large size Zeus on the first and last reels. In Wrath of Zeus, you’ll only be playing with the high-value Zeus symbols, and every time they land they’ll turn sticky. They may even expand into the special 1×4 super symbol. There’s also an upgrade symbol which increases the value of Zeus
by up to x3, giving a max payout of x20. The feature continues as long as new Zeus symbols appear on the board.
- Hades Hellfire. This time it’s the turn of Hades to provide a very similar feature to Wrath of Zeus. The same sticky and supersized symbols are in play, with an expansion symbol that can grow the board up to 7×6 instead of the regular 5×4. This increases the paylines to 60. With the larger 1×6 Super Symbol, it’s possible to win up to x50 for
matching seven in a row.
- Warring Gods. Both Zeus and Hades appear in this game. This combines the features in both Wrath of Zeus and Hades Hellfire for the ultimate bonus feature that pays up to x100 for a full row of seven on an expanded grid.

War of Gods is a slot that looks stunning, typical of Red Tiger titles. The theme is always popular, so if you like Greek Gods, you’ll enjoy the design. The three bonus features add depth to the play and means there’s always the potential for more. However, with no wilds or free spins and a low max payout, this game falls a little bit short of everything it could have been.
